Tuticorin: Amid tight security, a second post-mortem was carried out on the body of M. Murugan, Assistant Quality Control Officer of Civil Supplies Godown, Tuticorin, at the burial ground here on Monday. He died on September 11.
According to initial post-mortem report, he died of consuming poison on September 7. Selvi, wife of the deceased, alleged that his death was a planned murder by his enemies at workplace, following which the matter was taken to the High Court.
Following a High Court directive, the body of Murugan was exhumed and the doctors examined it to submit the findings before the court.
The body was exhumed by doctors K. Natarajan and Rajavel of Madurai Medical College in the presence of Dayalan Tamilselvan, Deputy Superintendent of Police, CB-CID; Karuppasamy, Tahsildar; Jayavel, Village Administrative Officer; and Sankaranarayanan, Revenue Inspector.

A TEAM of doctors on Monday performed re-postmortem after exhuming the body of M Murugan, an assistant quality control inspector in the Civil Supplies department in Thoothukudi.
Based on the directions by Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court, the re-postmortem was done at the corporation burial grounds here.
Natarajan and Rajavel from Government Medical College, Madurai conducted the re-postmortem.
It may be recalled that Murugan who was admitted to the Thoothukudi Medical College Hospital on
September 7 for allegedly consuming poison succumbed four days later.
The case was under investigation by the CB-CID and based on a petition by Dalit activist S Ramar.
After conducting the re-postmortem the body was handed over to Murugan’s wife Selvi and relatives of Murugan for performing rites as earlier the government authorities had buried the body after the family refused to accept it.
Dr Xavier Selva Suresh from the petitioner’s side, Murugan’s wife Selvi, CB-CID DSP Dayalan Tamilselvan, tahsildar Kauppasamy and relatives of Murugan were present when the body was exhumed.

The body of the assistant quality control officer at the civil supplies department was exhumed and submitted for re-postmortem in Thoothukudi on Monday.

Based on a PIL filed by an activist Ramar of Kovilpatti on the mysterious death of the civil supplies quality control officer, the Madurai bench of the high court on Octobe 5 ordered to exhume Murugan’s body and do re-postmortem. Based on the court verdict, Murugan’s body was exhumed on Monday.

தூத்துக்குடி சிவில் சப்ளை குடோனில் உதவி தரக்கட்டுப்பாட்டு ஆய்வாளராக பணியாற்றி வந்தவர் முருகன்(42). இவர் செப்.7ம் தேதி விஷம் குடித்ததாக தூத்துக்குடி அரசு மருத்துவமனையில் சேர்க்கப்பட்டு 11ம்தேதி இறந்தார். அவரது உடலில் காயங்கள் காணப்பட்டதால் வலுக்கட்டாயமாக விஷம் கொடுத்து கொலை செய்யப்பட்டிருப்பதாக அவரது மனைவி செல்வி மற்றும் உறவினர்கள் புகார் தெரிவித்தனர்.

அவர்களுக்கு ஆதரவு தெரிவித்து பல்வேறு கட்சிகள் ஆர்ப்பாட்டம், பேரணி நடத்தின. தொடர்ந்து டிஎஸ்பி நாராயணன் விசாரித்து வந்த இவ்வழக்கு விசாரணை சிபிசிஐடிக்கு மாற்றப்பட்டது.

அதே நேரத்தில் முருகனின் உடலை தூத்துக்குடி மையவாடி மயானத்தில் போலீசாரே புதைத்துவிட்டனர். இதையடுத்து தீர்த்தாம்பட்டியைச் சேர்ந்த ராமர், மதுரை ஐகோர்ட்டில் வழக்குத் தொடர்ந்தார். மனுவை விசாரித்த நீதிபதி, தூத்துக்குடியில் புதைக்கப்பட்ட முருகனின் உடலை மீண்டும் தோண்டியெடுத்து பிரேத பரிசோதனை நடத்தி வரும் 18ம் தேதிக்குள் அறிக்கை சமர்ப்பிக்க வேண்டும் என்று உத்தரவிட்டது.

மேலும் பரிசோதனை முழுவதையும் வீடியோவில் பதிவு செய்யவேண்டுமெனவும் குறிப்பிட்டிருந்தனர். இந்நிலையில் தூத்துக்குடி தாசில்தார் முன்னிலையில் இன்று தூத்துக்குடி மயானத்தில் முருகனின் உடல் தோண்டியெடுக்கப்பட்டு மறு பரிசோதனை செய்யப்பட்டது. சுமார் 1மணி நேரத்திற்கும் மேலாக இந்த பரிசோதனை நடந்தது.

இதில் மதுரை மருத்துவக் கல்லூரி சட்ட மருத்துவத்துறை பேராசிரியர்கள் நடராஜன், ராஜவேலு, சிபிசிஐடி டிஸ்பி தயாளன் தமிழ்செல்வன், ராமநாதபுரம் இன்ஸ்பெக்டர் சந்திரசேகர், சப் இன்ஸ்பெக்டர் தங்கபாலா, தாசில்தார் கருப்பசாமி, விஏஓ ஜெயவேலு, மாநகராட்சி சுகாதார ஆய்வாளர்கள் ஸ்டாலின் பாக்கியநாதன், முருகேசன் உட்பட அரசு அதிகாரிகள் மற்றும் நீதிமன்றத்தில் வழக்குத் தாக்கல் செய்த சமூக ஆர்வலர் ராமர், டாக்டர். சேவியர் செல்வ சுரேஷ் ஆகியோர் உடன் இருந்தனர். பிரேத பரிசோதனை அறிக்கையை வரும் 18ம் தேதிக்குள் மதுரை உயர்நீதிமன்றத்தில் அதிகாரிகள் சமர்பிப்பார்கள்.

Oct. 13: Problems continue to plague Sterlite Industries India Ltd, with the death of a lorry driver working for the company Tuesday night the latest in a series of setbacks for the copper and mining giant. Lorry driver Muthukrishnan, 21, of Oothumalai near Alangulam in Tirunelveli district, was admitted to a private hospital with severe burn injuries caused due to a sulphuric acid spill while the chemical was being loaded into a tanker at Sterlite on September 18.

Though the Sterlite administration bore the Muthukrishnan’s entire medical expenses, anti-Sterlite activists objected to relatives of the deceased receiving the body at the hospital and demanded the immediate closure of the company. After much haggling, Muthukrishnan’s relatives finally took the body to their native village in Tirunelveli district Wednesday afternoon.

The agitators, however continued to protest and staged a road blockade.

They dispersed only after the police registered a case against Sankara Pandian, manager of the sulphuric acid plant at Sterlite.

Speaking to DC, J. Prabaharan, one of the coordinators of the anti-Sterlite movement said around 15 people died in various accidents inside the plant in the past five years.

The company was charged with evasion of import duty of `750 crore two months ago. In the case that is pending with the Madurai bench of the high court, Sterlite vice-president Varadharajan was arrested. Later, on August 21, a Sterlite-owned vehicle was seized for illegally transporting `50 crore worth dore (gold alloy) anode from Thoothukudi to Chennai. The next blow, much more severe, came on September 28, when the Madras high court in a case filed by six organisations ordered the immediate closure of the company’s main factory in Thoothukudi because it was highly detrimental to the environment.

Anti-Sterlite activists objected to relatives of the deceased receiving the body at the hospital and demanded the immediate closure of the company.

Oct. 4: The Madurai bench of Madras high court on Monday ordered re-postmortem on the body of assistant quality control inspector Murugan in Thoothukudi who died on September 11.

With the opposition parties taking to the streets demanding a CBI probe into the “mysterious” death of Murugan, who worked in the civil supplies department, the CB-CID, which is investigating the case, submitted before the division bench comprising justices P. Jyothimani and S. Nagamuthu that it has sought permission from the local tahsildar for a re-postmortem.

The bench allowed the presence of Murugan’s widow Selvi or his relatives at the time of autopsy. A. Ramar, a rights activist of Kovilpatti, had filed a public interest litigation seeking a CBI inquiry into the civil supplies official’s death. The petitioner had accused the district administration of covering up Murugan’s death as suicide despite there being positive evidence from the postmortem report that stated that his body had injuries and contusions.

Having fought against corruption and malpractices in his department, Murugan, a dalit, had submitted written representations to the police and his higher-ups that he was facing a serious threat to his life and had also named the persons, the petitioner claimed.

He also charged the state government with concocting a story about his death to “silence the voice of the people” and to protect the real offenders indulging in ration rice smuggling. The state government had transferred the case from the Thoothukudi police to the CB-CID after Selvi’s agitation, alleging that her husband was force-fed poison for exposing high-level irregularities in his department, was supported by all the opposition parties led by the AIADMK.

EXHUME MURUGAN'S BODY, SAYS HIGH COURT BENCH

THE body of Murugan, the quality control officer of Civil Supplies Department in Thoothukudi, who was alleged to have committed suicide, was ordered to be exhumed and a fresh postmortem performed by the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Monday.

Murugan had reportedly taken stern action against smugglers of public distribution items, including rice, and brought some of them to books.

Meanwhile, he was brought to the Thoothukudi hospital by the inmates of a lorry on September 7, 2010 claiming that he had consumed poison. He died before admission to the hospital.

It was alleged that he had been poisoned by those whom he had apprehended.

The government transferred the case from the police to the CB-CID. At the same time, S Ramar, a social activist from Theerthampatti in Thoothukudi district, filed a plea before the Madurai Bench seeking a CBI inquiry into the death of Murugan. A Division Bench comprising Justices P Jyothimani and S Nagamuthu before whom the petition came up directed the Inspector of CB-CID to appear in court.

Inspector Rajkumar, who appeared before the Bench, in his counter affidavit sought permission to exhume the body of Murugan and submit it for a fresh postmortem.

The Bench admitted his request and directed that the body be exhumed in the presence of the tahsildar and that either Murugan’s wife or a relative could be present during the exhumation.

The petitioner Ramar was also permitted to be present, but they should not interfere with the work of the medical team, the Bench warned.

MADURAI: The Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department (CB-CID) has decided to exhume the body of civil supplies official M. Murugan for a second post-mortem.

His death last month had sparked a controversy in Tuticorin, with his wife claiming it was murder and the district administration maintaining it was suicide.

The decision was conveyed to the Madras High Court Bench here, which was seized of a public interest litigation petition filed by a Dalit activist seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe.

The court was also informed that a requisition had been made to the Tahsildar concerned for exhuming the body.

Justices P. Jyothimani and S. Nagamuthu recorded the submissions and adjourned the case to October 18.

The judges permitted the relatives of Murugan and their representatives to witness the exhumation and second post-mortem.

However, they have been barred from interfering with the process.

Murugan, who was working as an Assistant Quality Control Inspector with the Civil Supplies Department, allegedly consumed poison on September 7 and died four days later.

His wife raised the suspicion that he might have been murdered for exposing corrupt practices in the department.

According to her, there were external injuries on the body, leading to suspicion that he could have been forced to consume poison after being beaten up brutally.

She refused to receive the corpse and staged a demonstration. She was arrested and the body, buried without her consent.

Expressing solidarity with the woman, the PIL petitioner S. Ramar and his counsel P. Rathinam contended that the truth would come to light only if the investigation was handed over to the CBI.

Tuticorin: Cadres of the opposition parties led by AIADMK staged demonstration here on Monday in front of the Rajaji Park insisting upon the government to conduct a CBI enquiry into the death of M. Murugan, Assistant Quality Control Officer, Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation, Tuticorin.

Murugan died on September 11 in Tuticorin after he reportedly consumed poison on September 7.

Presiding over the agitation, P.H. Pandian, the former Assembly Speaker, termed the official's death as “murder.”

Strong indication

There was a strong indication of the fact that he was attacked by some conspirators since he had suffered injuries on his body.

K. Krishnasamy, Founder President, Puthiya Thamilagam said the government should recommend for a CBI inquiry into the incident and take appropriate action against those involved in Murugan's death, which he claimed to be a murder.

Shanmuganathan, district secretary, AIADMK, N. Chinnadurai, District Panchayat Chairman, Nazareth Durai, Deputy General Secretary, MDMK, S. Joel, district secretary, MDMK, S. Hyder Ali, General Secretary, Tamil Nadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam and cadres from various parties also participated in the agitation organised by the AIADMK.

தூத்துக்குடி சிவில் சப்ளை அதிகாரி முருகன் மரணம் குறித்து சி.பி.ஐ., விசாரணைக்கு உத்தரவிடக்கோரி தூத்துக்குடியில் அ.தி.மு.க. மற்றும் கூட்டணி கட்சிகள் சார்பில் கண்டன ஆர்ப்பாட்டம் நடந்தது.

தமிழ்நாடு நுகர்பொருள் வாணிபக் கழகத்தின் தூத்துக்குடி மண்டல உதவி தரக்கட்டுப்பாடு ஆய்வாளராக பணிபுரிந்து வந்தவர் முருகன் மர்மமான முறையில் மரணமடைந்தார். இந்த மரணத்தின் பின்னால் ரேஷன் பொருட்களை கடத்தும் கும்பலின் சதி இருப்பதாகவும், அதற்கு சிபிஐ விசாரணைக்கு உத்தரவிட வேண்டும் என்றும் அதிமுக பொதுச் செயலாளர் ஜெயலலிதா அறிவித்திருந்தார். இது தொடர்பாக இன்று (அக்.4ம்தேதி) ஆர்ப்பாட்டம் நடைபெறும் என அறிவித்திருந்தார்.

இதனையடுத்து இந்த வழக்கை சி.பி.ஐ., விசாரணைக்கு மாற்ற வலியுறுத்தி திருநெல்வேலி மாநகர், புறநகர் மற்றும் தூத்துக்குடி மாவட்ட அ.தி.மு.க., சார்பில் இன்று தூத்துக்குடி பி.எஸ்.என்.எல்., அலுவலகம் எதிரில் கண்டன ஆர்ப்பாட்டம் நடைபெற்றது.

ஆர்ப்பாட்டத்திற்கு அனைத்துலக எம்ஜிஆர் மன்ற செயலாளர் பி.எச்.பாண்டியன் தலைமை வகித்தார். சங்கரன் கோவில் எம்எல்ஏ கருப்பசாமி, நெல்லை மாவட்டச் செயலாளர் பாப்புலர் முத்தையா, நெல்லை மேற்கு மாவட்ட செயலாளர் ராஜா செந்தூர் பாண்டியன், தூத்துக்குடி மாவட்ட அதிமுக செயலாளர் சண்முக நாதன் ஆகியோர் முன்னிலை வகித்தனர்.

ஆர்ப்பாட்டத்தில் பேசிய பி.எச்.பாண்டியன், தூத்துக்குடியில் சிவில் சப்ளையில் பணியாற்றிய நேர்மையான அதிகாரி முருகன் தற்கொலை செய்யவில்லை. அவர் கொலை செய்யப்பட்டிருக்கிறார். ரேசன் அரிசி கடத்தல் கடந்த பல ஆண்டுகளாக அரங்கேறி வருகிறது. இதற்கு முன் லாரி, ரயில் மூலம் கடத்தினர். தற்போது, தூத்துக்குடியிலிருந்து கப்பல் மூலம் கடத்தப்படுகிறது. இதற்கு இங்குள்ள ஷிப்பிங் கம்பெனி உடந்தையாக இருப்பதாக குற்றம் சாட்டினார்.

அதிகாரி கொலையில் சி.பி.ஐ. விசாரணை - வைகோ

தூத்துக்குடி நுகர்பொருள் வாணிபக் கழக அதிகாரி கொலையில் சி.பி.ஐ. விசாரணை நடத்த வேண்டும் என்று வைகோ வலியுறுத்தியுள்ளார்.

ம.தி.மு.க. பொதுச் செயலாளர் வைகோ வெளியிட்டுள்ள அறிக்கையில் கூறியிருப்பதாவது:
தூத்துக்குடி நுகர்பொருள் வாணிபக் கழகத்தில் தரக்கட்டுப்பாட்டு உதவி ஆய்வாளராகப் பணிபுரிந்து வந்த முருகனின் மரணம், தற்கொலையால் நிகழ்ந்தது அல்ல; கொலை செய்யப்பட்டுத்தான் மடிந்தார் என்பதற்கு ஏராளமான ஆதாரங்கள் உள்ளன.

பிரேத பரிசோதனை அறிக்கை முருகன் கொலை செய்யப்பட்டார் என்பதற்கு முழு ஆதாரமாக இருக்கிறது. பிரேத பரிசோதனை இறுதி அறிக்கை தந்த மருத்துவர், முருகன் மாலத்தியான் விஷம் குடித்து இறந்திருக்கக் கூடும் என்று தெரிவித்து இருப்பது நிர்ப்பந்தத்தால் கொடுக்கப்பட்ட அறிக்கையாகத் தெரிகிறது. முருகனின் உடம்பில் இருக்கின்ற காயங்களை அந்த அறிக்கை மறைக்க முடியவில்லை.

முருகன் மனைவி செல்வி உண்ணாவிரதம் இருந்து போராடினார். நான் அந்த சகோதரியைச் சந்தித்தபோது, அழுதுகொண்டே அவர் என்னிடம் கூறியது: ``என் கணவரைக் கொலை செய்தவர்களைத் தண்டிக்க வேண்டும் என்பது என் நோக்கம் அல்ல. என் கணவருடைய உயிர் திரும்பி வரப்போவது இல்லை. ஆனால், அவர் தற்கொலை செய்து கொண்டார் என்று அரசாங்கத் தரப்பில் கூறுவது, அவர் மீது அபாண்டமாகப் பழி சுமத்துகின்ற கொடுமை ஆகும்.

அவர் தற்கொலை செய்யவில்லை என்ற உண்மை, ஊருக்கும், உலகத்துக்கும் தெரிய வேண்டும்'' என்று விம்மல்களுக்கு மத்தியில் கூறியபோது, தாங்க முடியாத வேதனை ஏற்பட்டது. காவல்துறை எந்த நடவடிக்கையும் எடுக்கவில்லை. மக்கள் கொந்தளிப்பை உணர்ந்தபிறகு, பிரச்சினையை மூடி மறைக்க, குற்றப்பிரிவு புலனாய்வுப் போலீசார் விசாரிப்பார்கள் என்று அரசாங்கம் அறிவித்து உள்ளது. அவரது மனைவி செல்வி கொடுத்த புகார் மீது, உரிய நடவடிக்கை எடுக்காத காவல்துறை அதிகாரிகளைப் பணி இடை நீக்கம் செய்ய வேண்டும்.

நுகர்பொருள் வாணிபக் கழகத்தில் முருகன் குற்றம் சாட்டி உள்ள நபர்களையும் உடனடியாகப் பணி இடை நீக்கம் செய்ய வேண்டும். முருகன் மரணம் குறித்து சி.பி.ஐ. விசாரணை நடத்த வேண்டும். கொலை செய்யப்பட்டுத்தான் முருகன் இறந்தார் என்பதை மூடி மறைக்கத் தமிழ்நாடு அரசு முயலவில்லை என்று கூறுமானால் சி.பி.ஐ. விசாரணைக்கு, மாநில அரசே ஏற்பாடு செய்ய வேண்டும். இவ்வாறு வைகோ கூறியுள்ளார்.

அனைத்துக் கட்சிகள் மனித சங்கிலி

தூத்துக்குடியில், சிவில் சப்ளை அதிகாரி முருகனின் படுகொலைக்கு சிபிஐ விசாரணை நடத்த வலியுறுத்தி அனைத்துக் கட்சிகள் சார்பில் மனித சங்கிலி போராட்டம் நடந்தது.

பழைய பேருந்து நிலையம் முன்பிருந்து துவக்கப்பட்ட இந்த மனித சங்கிலி போராட்டத்திற்கு இந்திய கம்யூ. கட்சி மாவட்ட செயலாளர் மோகன்ராஜ் தலைமை தாங்கினார். பகுஜன் சமாஜ் கட்சி தேசிய செயலாளரும், உத்திரபிரதேச மாநில பாராளுமன்ற உறுப்பினருமான பிரமோத் குரில் சிறப்புரையாற்றினார்.

அப்போது அவர் பேசுகையில், மக்களுக்காக உணவு வழங்கும் துறையில் நடந்த ஊழலுக்காக நீதிகேட்ட நேர்மையான அதிகாரி கொலை செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளார். இது திட்டமிட்ட படுகொலை. இந்தியாவில் காங்கிரஸ் தலைமையிலான மத்திய அரசும், திமுக தலைமையிலான மாநில அரசும் ஊழல் நிறைந்தவைகளாக உள்ளன.

மத்திய மாநில அரசுகள் இந்த பிரச்சனைக்கு உடனடியாக தீர்வு காண வேண்டும். இல்லையெனில் இன்னும் 6மாத்தில் வர இருக்கின்ற தேர்தலில் மக்கள் அவர்களுக்கு சரியான பாடம் புகட்டுவார்கள். இந்த பிரச்சனையை சாதாரணமாக எண்ணிவிடக் கூடாது. முருகன் கொலை குறித்து பாராளுமன்றத்தில் குரல் கொடுப்பேன். இவ்வாறு அவர் பேசினார்.
