MADURAI: The Madras High Court Bench here on Friday ordered notice to the State government and the Tuticorin Collector in a writ petition filed by a Dalit activist seeking Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the death of a Civil Supplies Department official in Tuticorin on September 11.

A Division Bench comprising Justice P. Jyothimani and Justice S. Nagamuthu also directed the petitioner's counsel P. Rathinam to serve all documents related to the case on the CBI counsel and adjourned the matter to Wednesday. The petitioner, S. Ramar, said the deceased, M. Murugan, was an upright official who exposed many illegalities such as corruption, theft and other malpractices in the department.

Hence, there was every possibility that he was murdered by anti-social elements involved in such illegal activities.

Nevertheless, the district administration as well as the police officials were bent on proving it to be a case of suicide, he alleged and said that the officials had gone to the extent of arresting his wife who was on dharna for 12 days demanding justice, and buried the body without her consent.

MADURAI: THE Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Friday directed the Tamil Nadu Home Secretary and the Director General of Police to file their replies to a petition seeking a CBI probe into the mysterious death of Murugan, an officer in the Civil Supplies Department of Thoothukudi.
S Ramar, a social activist of Theerthampatti in his petition before the Bench said that Murugan, a Dalit, was employed in the Thoothukudi District Civil Supplies Department as a quality control inspector. He apprehended those who were smuggling ration rice, dhal and other essential items and took action against them.
On September 7, 2010, Murugan was brought to the hospital in a lorry and it was said that he had attempted to commit suicide by consuming poison. He was declared dead when admitted to the hospital. The petitioner averred that there was no reason for Murugan to attempt suicide. Many persons have resorted to agitations suspecting foul play in the death of the deceased. Postmortem report was denied to them and there were injuries on his body. Minister for Food, E V Velu and the Collector maintained that he had committed suicide.
Ramar said that Murugan had been murdered by a gang involved in the smuggling of ration items. Members of the gang were also threatening the wife of Murugan. While seeking a CBI probe into the, he also sought compensation for the family under the Civil Rights Protection Act and rehabilitation for his wife. The Bench comprising Justices P Jyothimani and S Nagamuthu directed issue of notice to the Home Secretary, the DGP, Thoothukudi SP and the SIPCOT inspector.

THOOTHUKUDI: The relatives and activists of deceased Assistant Quality Control Inspector M Murugan are awaiting the CB-CID probe to begin and meanwhile, putting an end to the protests carried on so far, the activists have now decided to give priority in getting legal recourse.
Murugan succumbed at the Thoothukudi Medical College Hospital on September 11 after being admitted on September 7 for allegedly consuming poison.
Murugan’s wife Selvi and other relatives refused to receive the body after post-mortem which was done on September 12. The relatives and activists, supported by opposition parties, staged protests and demanded that a case be registered under section 302.
Selvi alleged that her husband was murdered by his colleagues for not cooperating with them in misappropriation. The issue gained prominence after AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa, PMK founder S Ramadoss and CPI leaders issued statements, demanding a fair probe into the cause of Murugan’s death. Bowing to the pressure, the Chief Minister announced a CB-CID probe and announced an ex-gratia amount of ` 2 lakh on September 21. However, Selvi refused it, saying that she was not protesting for money, but for justice.
On September 22, the decomposed body of Murugan was buried by the officials as the relatives refused to accept the body even after the final order. It may be noted that the body was buried since the doctors had expressed their concern that the decomposed body could cause serious health hazards to hospital employees, patients and general public. The high drama came to an end with the arrest of Selvi along with 24 other protestors on Wednesday.
All those arrested were released by 10 pm and Selvi was also discharged from the hospital on Thursday.

Tuticorin: A government employee named Murugan was killed in Tuticorin in Tamil Nadu after he exposed a scam where pulses were being diverted from ration shops.

Mystery surrounds Murugan's death as Police say he consumed poison but his wife Selvi suspects foul play.

She says Murugan had exposed a scam where expensive pulses meant for the Public Distribution System were smuggled out of godowns and replaced by cheap rice.

Not willing to give up at any cost, Selvi refused to accept her husband's body and is on a hunger strike demanding justice.

"I want justice, the government has not bothered about this," said the hapless wife.

The government has ordered a probe into the incident and announced a compensation of Rs. 2 lakh. The minister in charge, however, refused to comment on camera.

With news of whistle blowers being targeted on the rise, activists are a worried lot.

V Madhav, RTI activist, said," Now a days we file RTI applications in batches so that no one person is targeted."

The wife of a civil supplies official, on a 12-day-long dharna here alleging that he was murdered for exposing irregularities by high level officials in the department, has been arrested.
Ms. Selvi, wife of 45-year old Murugan, who allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison, and 25 others who had joined her in her protest were arrested yesterday for continuing their protest demanding a proper probe despite the government ordering a CB-CID inquiry.
As Murugan’s family had refused to accept the body, it was buried by corporation staff in the presence of district officials here last evening, officials said. None of the family members of the deceased were present.
Murugan, an Assistant Quality Control Officer of the Civil Supplies known for his ‘integrity and honesty’, had allegedly consumed poison on September 7 and died four days later without responding to treatment.
His wife had refused to accept his body for performing funeral rights. She suspected her husband was forced to drink the poison for exposing high level irregularities in the department.
Officials said that before the arrest of Ms. Selvi, she was served an ultimatum to accept the body before 3 pm yesterday failing which it would be buried by corporation staff.
Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi had announced a compensation of Rs. two lakh to Ms. Selvi and also ordered the transfer of the case to the CB-CID Police.

Madurai: The wife of an officer who died due to alleged poisoning after exposing malpractices in the civil supplies corporation in Thoothukudi was picked up by the cops along with 24 others for continuing to stage a dharna despite the government ordering a CBI enquiry into his death. Selvi, 38, who had been staging the street protest since September 13, was later admitted to hospital. Murugan, 48, had been the deputy inspector of quality control at the Civil Supplies Corporation godown in Neelavittan in Thoothukudi. His wife said he had noticed that provisions were going missing from the godown and brought it to the notice of his regional. But as Pitchai, an outsider who had access to the godown, had threatened him against exposing this malpractice, Murugan lodged a complaint with the SIPCOT police on August 17.

BODY OF HUSBAND FINALLY BURIED Though Murugan’s wife alleged that he was poisoned by some of his colleagues, police concluded on the basis of the post-mortem report that it was suicide.
Sept. 22: Police on Wednesday arrested Selvi, the widow of a civil supplies official, who had undertaken a fast in the district collectorate alleging that her husband had been murdered by his colleagues. Murugan, 48, a quality control officer at the civil supplies godown in Thoothukudi died after consuming poison. Though his wife alleged that he was poisoned by some of his colleagues, police concluded on the basis of the post-mortem report that it was suicide.
However, Selvi refused to accept this and along with relatives and dalit activists started a relay fast in the Thoothukudi district collectorate premises 12 days ago. She demanded the immediate arrest of four of Mr Murugan’s colleagues in the case. The district collector ordered a CB CID probe and invited Ms Selvi for discussions but she refused to talk with him.
The government also announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh. However, Selvi and her relatives, backed by various political parties, dalit and human rights organisations continued with the fast. They also refused to accept the body of Murugan that was kept for the past 12 days in the Thoothukudi government hospital mortuary. The police finally buried Murugan’s body and arrested Selvi and her relatives Wednesday evening.

தனது கணவரின் உடலை மறு பிரேத பரிசோதனை செய்ய வேண்டும் என்று சப் கலெக்டரிடம் மனு கொடுத்தார்.

இந்நிலையில் தூத்துக்குடி சப் கலெக்டர் சஜ்ஜன்சிங் ஆர். சவான், முருகனின் உடலில் துர்நாற்றம் அதிகரித்துள்ளது. அதனால், அரசு மருத்துவமனையில் உள்ள மற்ற நோயாளிகளுக்கு தீங்கு ஏற்படுவதை தடுப்பதற்காக, இன்று மாலை 3 மணிக்குள் பிணத்தை பெற்றுக்கொள்ள வேண்டும் இல்லையெனில் மாநகராட்சி சார்பில் பிணம் புதைக்கப்படும் என்று ஆனை பிறப்பித்தார்.

அந்த ஆனையின் நகல்கள் முருகனின் மனைவி செல்வியிடமும், உறவினர்களிடமும் வழங்கப்பட்டது. அவர்கள் ஆணையை வாங்க மறுத்ததால், ஆட்சியர் அலுவலவலக வளாகத்தில் உள்ள சுவற்றில் ஒட்டப்பட்டது. மதியம் 3மணியளவில் முருகனின் உறவினர்கள் முருகனின் பிணத்தை பெற்றுக் கொள்ள முன்வரவில்லை.

இதனையடுத்து, அவரது பிணம் 3.30மணியளவில் தூத்துக்குடி பாளை ரோட்டில் உள்ள பொதுமயானத்தில் புதைக்கப்பட்டது. தூத்துக்குடி சப் கலெக்டர் சஜ்ஜன்சிங் ஆர். சவான், ஏ.எஸ்.பி., சோனல் சந்திரா, மாநகராட்சி ஆணையர் குபேந்திரன், தாசில்தார் கருப்பசாமி மற்றும் போலீஸ் அதிகாரிகள், வருவாய்துறை அதிகாரிகள், மாநகராட்சி ஊழியர்கள் முன்னிலை பிணம் புதைக்கப்பட்டது.

முருகன் பிணம் புதைக்கப்பட்டதன் எதிரொலியாக தூத்துக்குடி அரசு மருத்துவமனையிலிருந்து பொது மயானம் வரை 5நபர்களுக்கு மேல் கூடாத வண்ணம் தடை உத்தரவு பிறப்பிக்கப்பட்டிருந்தது. பலத்த போலீஸ் பாதுகாப்பும் போடப்பட்டிருந்தது.

பின்னர் உண்ணாவிரதம் இருந்த செல்வி மற்றும் உறவினர்கள் 25 நபர்கள் காவல்துறையால் கைது செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளனர். அவருக்கு ஆதரவாக இருந்த உறவினர்கள் மற்றும் ஆதரவாளர்களை போலீசார் அடித்து விரட்டினர். அங்கிருந்த உண்ணாவிரத பந்தல், பேனர் போன்றவைகளை பிரித்து எறிந்தனர்.

இந்த சம்பவத்தில், மனித உரிமை பாதுகாப்பு மைய வழக்கறிஞர்கள் அரிராகவன், தங்கபாண்டியன், மள்ளர் கலை இலக்கிய கழகத்தைச் சேர்ந்த முத்துகுமார், சிபிஎம் (எல்) மாவட்ட செயலாளர் ஸ்டாலின் மற்றும் முருகனின் உறவினர்கள் உட்பட 25பேரை போலீசார் கைது செய்தனர். கைது செய்யப்பட்டவர்கள் தூத்துக்குடி மில்லர்புரத்தில் உள்ள தனியார் திருமண மண்டபத்தில் போலீஸ் காவலில் வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளனர். முருகனின் மனைவி செல்வி தூத்துக்குடி அரசு மருத்துவமனையில் சேர்க்கப்பட்டுள்ளார்.

இதுகுறித்து இந்திய கம்யூ. மாவட்ட செயலாளர் மோகன்ராஜ், மனித உரிமை பாதுகாப்பு மைய ராமச்சந்திரன் செய்தியாளர்களிடம் கூறும்போது, தன் கணவரை கொலை செய்தவர்களை கைது செய்ய வேண்டும் என்று மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர் அலுவலகத்தில் கடந்த 11 நாட்களாக உண்ணாவிரதம் இருந்த செல்வி மற்றும் அவரது உறவினர்களை போலீசார் கண்மூடித்தனமாக தாக்கி கைது செய்துள்ளனர்.

போலீசாரின் இந்த நடவடிக்கையை கண்டித்து வரும் திங்கள் (செப்.27) மதியம் 3மணியளவில் மனித சங்கிலி போராட்டம் நடத்த உள்ளோம் என்று தெரிவித்தனர். இச்சம்பவத்தில் இரண்டு வழக்கறிஞர்கள் கைது செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளனர். இப்போரட்டத்தில் வழக்கறிஞர்கள் குதிக்கவுள்ளனர் என்றும் வழக்கறிஞர் ராமச்சந்திரன் கூறினார்.

10வது நாளாக போராட்டம்: அனைத்து கட்சியினர் உண்ணாவிரதம்

தூத்துக்குடி குடிமைப் பொருள் வழங்கல் துறை தரக்கட்டுப்பாட்டு உதவி ஆய்வாளரின் சாவில் சந்தேகம் இருப்பதாகக் கூறி, அவரது சடலத்தை வாங்க மறுத்து உறவினர்கள் 10-ம் நாளாக திங்கள்கிழமையும் போராட்டத்தில் ஈடுபட்டனர். பிரேத பரிசோதனை அறிக்கையில் காயங்கள் இருப்பது உறுதிப்படுத்தப் பட்ட நிலையில் பல்வேறு அரசியல் கட்சி தலைவர்களும் கண்டன அறிக்கை வெளியிடுள்ளனர். இந்த நிலையில் அனைத்துக் கட்சியினர் சார்பில் தூத்துக்குடியில் ஒருநாள் கண்டன உண்ணாவிரத போராட்டம் நடைபெற்றது.

தூத்துக்குடி அண்ணாநகர் 10-வது தெருவைச் சேர்ந்த முத்தையா மகன் முருகன் (48). இவர், தூத்துக்குடி சிப்காட் வளாகத்தில் உள்ள குடிமைப்பொருள் வழங்கல் துறை கிட்டங்கியில் தரக்கட்டுப்பாட்டு பிரிவு உதவி ஆய்வாளராக பணியாற்றி வந்தார். கடந்த 7-ம் தேதி காலை முருகன் வழக்கம்போல் வீட்டில் இருந்து வேலைக்கு புறப்பட்டுச் சென்றாராம். விஷம் குடித்துவிட்டதாக தூத்துக்குடி அரசு மருத்துவக் கல்லூரி மருத்துவமனையில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்ட அவர் 11-ம் தேதி சனிக்கிழமை இறந்தார். இந்நிலையில் அவரது சாவில் சந்தேகம் இருப்பதாக அவரது மனைவி செல்வி அளித்த புகாரில் அலுவலகத்தில் நடைபெற்ற முறைகேடுகளை தனது கணவர் கண்டுபிடித்து போலீஸில் புகார் செய்ய நடவடிக்கை எடுத்ததாகவும், அதனால் அதிகாரிகள் அவருக்கு விஷம் கொடுத்து கொலை செய்துவிட்டனர் என்றும் தெரிவித்துள்ளார். தன் கணவரின் சாவுக்குக் காரணமானோரைக் கைது செய்ய வேண்டும் என வலியுறுத்தி முருகனின் மனைவி செல்வி 10 நாள்களாக சாப்பிடாமல், காலவரம்பற்ற உண்ணாவிரதத்தில் ஈடுபட்டுள்ளார். அவருக்கு ஆதரவாக அனைத்து கட்சிகள், மனித உரிமை அமைப்பினரும் இன்று காலை முதல் தூத்துக்குடி ராஜாஜி பூங்கா முன்பு உண்ணாவிரத போராட்டத்தில் ஈடுபட்டனர்.
இவ்வழக்கை கொலை வழக்காக பதிவு செய்ய வேண்டும். பல்வேறு போராட்டம் நடத்தியும் மாவட்ட ஆட்சியரும் காவல்துறையினரும் எவ்வித நடவடிக்கையும் எடுக்காமல் மவுனம் சாதித்து வருகிறது. இவ்வழக்கில் முறையான சி.பி.ஐ. நீதி விசாரணை நடத்தப்பட்டு, பாரபட்சமின்றி நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கவேண்டும் என உண்ணாவிரத போராட்டத்தில் ஈடுபட்டுள்ளவர்கள் வலியுறுத்தியுள்ளனர்.

தூத்துக்குடியில் மர்மமான முறையில் இறந்த முருகனின் உடல் 10வது நாளாக அரசு மருத்துவ கல்லூரியிலேயே வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. முருகனின் மனைவி செல்வி 10 நாள்களாக சாப்பிடாமல், காலவரம்பற்ற உண்ணாவிரதத்தில் ஈடுபட்டுள்ளார்.

CHENNAI: AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalithaa demanded a probe into the incident of suspicious death of M. Murugan (48), an Assistant Quality Control Officer, Civil Supplies godown, Milavittan, in Tuticorin.
In a statement, she said the culprits should be punished and the family of the deceased be compensated. The former CM reiterated her demand for a probe on smuggling of the commodities from the civil supplies outlets.
Saying that the attacks on Dalit officers were on the rise during the fourandhalf years of rule by the DMK, she said the family of the deceased Dalit official suspects foul play in his death and the matter should be immediately probed.
Murugan left for workplace on September 7 and his wife received a phone call saying he had been admitted at the Tuticorin government hospital after taking 'poison.' His wife, who noticed a wound below his left shoulder made a complaint to the district Police. Murugan died on September 11.
Suspecting foul play, his wife complained to the district collector. She had mentioned that her husband had told her that he expect some problems as he made a complaint against some officers of the TN Civil Supplies Corporation and also to the police about the smuggling of commodities that were supplied through it.
In her complaint, she demanded a proper enquiry to find out the reasons for her husband's death.

Jaya demands probe into civil supplies officer death

Chennai, Sept. 17: AIADMK general secretary Jayalalithaa on Friday urged the state government to order an inquiry into the suspicious death of Murugan, assistant quality control inspector of Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation (TNCSC), in Thoothukudi. She also asked the government to give financial assistance to members of Murugan family.
In a statement issued here, Ms Jayalalithaa said Murguan’s wife had petitioned the district collector seeking an inquiry into her husband’s death as he had exposed ration items smuggling racket in August this year.
The AIADMK supremo said Murugan’s wife made it clear that there was no problem in their personal life and he had feared threat to his life from the former zonal manager of TNCSC against whom he had complained to his higher authorities and police in connection with smuggling of ration items.
She said his wife has asked the collector to order an inquiry into her husband’s death as attempts were being made to cover up the murder.
Ms Jayalalithaa recalled that Murugan who went to work as usual on September 7 did not return home and his wife was informed that her husband had been admitted to the government general hospital in Thoothukudi for consuming poison.
“After noticing bleeding injuries on Murugan’s shoulder, she made a complaint to the district superintendent of police on September 9 and two days later he died,” she said.
She condemned the DMK government for failing to take steps to prevent smuggling of ration items and also alleged that the ruling party men were involved in the smuggling.

Customs red-faced over ‘smuggled’ rice

Feb. 14: The much-hyped seizure of 2,212 tonnes of ‘smuggled’ PDS rice worth Rs 3.89 crore by customs officials and district civil supplies officials from Tuticorin port in the last week of January turned out to be a major faux pas by the officials.
The consignment was part of legally sanctioned quantity going to Maldives for public distribution there, as per an agreement between the Indian and Maldives governments.
A senior customs official disclosed on Sunday that the seizure was a mistake, carried out by overenthusiastic officials, and added that the seized rice had been handed over to the Thoothukudi collector for further action. It would be returned to Hari and Co, the firm which was exporting the rice to State Trading Organisation, Maldives.
Generally, no regular rice will be allowed to be exported from India. But, Hari and Co was one of the two exporters allowed to export regular rice to fulfil the commitment made by the Indian government to send 10,000 tonnes of rice to Maldives yearly.
“We had sent one consignment in November. In January, we were sending the last consignment when the seizure happened. A customs official had collected some leftover rice from our place and sent it for quality test at civil supplies. The test result indicated it could be PDS rice. The official immediately seized the entire quantity and was not ready to see our documents, which clearly showed that our export consignment of regular rice was certainly official,” Mr R. Arul, general manager of Hari & Co, told this newspaper on Sunday.
We had procured the rice from 15 mills in Nalgonda district, Andhra Pradesh. The rice bags reached Thoothukudi in 227 lorries after crossing 10 check-posts. We had papers to show all these besides the payment details. But at the time of seizure, the officials were not ready to look at the papers, Mr Arul added. The rice was released only after the firm approached the court.
When contacted, a senior customs official claimed that the seizure was made as per the official communication from the district administration.

Govt promises impartial probe into official’s death

Chennai: The state government on Saturday said the police would conduct an impartial investigation into the death of M Murugan, a deputy quality control inspector attached to the Thoothukudi depot of the state civil supplies corporation, in the light of the family of the deceased officer suspecting foul play in his death.
Murugan’s wife Selvi and other relatives have been refusing to accept his body, alleging that he may have been murdered by other employees allegedly involved in smuggling of essential commodities.
They claim that Murugan had complained to the authorities about illegal activities going on in the depot and that he had feared for his life.
However, food minister E V Velu dismissed the allegation in a statement here and said the family was trying to spread canards.
He claimed that Murugan had died after swallowing insecticide and that the postmortem examination had confirmed the cause of death.
“Murugan, who committed suicide, had suffered a bout of brain fever. He had several times in the past told his colleagues that due to stress and ill-health he wanted to commit suicide,” food minister Velu said.
In an apparent reference to political statements on the issue, he deplored “mischievous” attempts to give a caste colour to the incident as the officer concerned was a dalit.
On the day of the incident (September 7), he had consumed an insecticide in office, even while an audit was going on into the accounts of the depot. Within 30 minutes he was taken to the Thoothukudi general hospital and admitted in the intensive care unit. However, he died on September 11, the minister said.
“While the police are holding an impartial probe, the deceased’s wife was not happy with the investigation. Therefore, a different set of officers have been appointed. The district administration and the police will hold an impartial probe and take further action,” the minister said.
Meanwhile, Pattali Makkal Katchi founder S Ramadoss demanded a judicial probe by a high court judge into Murugan’s death, saying the government could not brush aside Selvi’s charge that there was an attempt to cover up the ‘murder’.

சென்னை, செப்.17: திமுக ஆட்சியில் தலித் சமுதாயத்தைச் சேர்ந்த அதிகாரிகள் பலர் தாக்கப்படுவது தொடர்கதையாகிவிட்டது என்று அதிமுக பொதுச்செயலர் ஜெயலலிதா குற்றம்சாட்டியுள்ளார்.
இது குறித்து வெள்ளிக்கிழமை அவர் வெளியிட்ட அறிக்கை:
கடந்த நான்கரை ஆண்டு கால தி.மு.க. ஆட்சியில், கன்னியாகுமரி மாவட்ட துணை ஆட்சியர், இந்திய ஆட்சிப் பணி அதிகாரி, திருநெல்வேலி அண்ணா பல்கலைக்கழக துணை வேந்தர் என தலித் சமுதாயத்தைச் சேர்ந்த அதிகாரிகள் பலர் தாக்கப்படுவது தொடர்கதையாகி விட்டது.
அந்த வகையில் தற்போது நுகர்பொருள் வாணிபக் கழகத்தின் தூத்துக்குடி மண்டல உதவி தரக் கட்டுப்பாட்டு ஆய்வாளர் மு. முருகன் தாக்கப்பட்டு மரணமடைந்திருக்கிறார்.
கடந்த 7-ம் தேதி வழக்கம் போல் அலுவலகத்திற்குச் சென்ற முருகன் வீடு திரும்பவில்லை. ஆனால், மருந்து குடித்ததன் காரணமாக தூத்துக்குடி அரசு பொது மருத்துவமனையில் அனுமதிக்கப்பட்டு இருப்பதாக அவரது வீட்டிற்கு தகவல் மட்டும் அனுப்பப்பட்டது.
அவரது மனைவி உடனடியாக மருத்துவமனைக்குச் சென்று தன் கணவரைப் பார்த்திருக்கிறார். தன் கணவரின் இடது தோள்பட்டைக்கு கீழ் ரத்த காயம் இருந்ததைக் கண்டு அதிர்ச்சி அடைந்துள்ளார். இது குறித்து மாவட்ட காவல் துறை கண்காணிப்பாளரிடம் கடந்த 9-ம் தேதி புகார் கொடுத்திருக்கிறார். இந்நிலையில், கடந்த 11-ம் தேதி முருகன் மரணமடைந்துவிட்டதாக தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டது.
தனது கணவரின் மரணத்தில் ஏதோ மர்மம் இருப்பதை அறிந்த அவரது மனைவி, 13.9.2010 அன்று தூத்துக்குடி மாவட்ட ஆட்சித் தலைவரிடம் புகார் தெரிவித்துள்ளார். அதில், தன் கணவருக்கு குடும்பத்தில் எந்தப் பிரச்னையும் இல்லை என்றும், ரேஷன் பொருள்கள் கடத்தல் தொடர்பாக முந்தைய மண்டல மேலாளர் மற்றும் சிலர் மீது நுகர்பொருள் வாணிபக் கழக நிர்வாகத்திடமும், காவல் துறையிடமும் கடந்த ஆகஸ்ட் மாதம் புகார்கள் வழங்கியதாகவும் கூறியிருக்கிறார்.
மேற்படி நபர்களால் தனக்கு ஆபத்து நேரிடலாம் என்று தன் கணவர் தன்னிடம் ஏற்கெனவே கூறியதாகவும், கொலையை மறைப்பதற்கான முயற்சி நடப்பதாகவும், இது குறித்து உரிய விசாரணை நடத்தி வழக்கு பதிவு செய்ய வேண்டும் என்றும் கோரியுள்ளார்.
மேலும், தன் கணவர் வழக்கமாக கையில் வைத்திருக்கும் டைரி மற்றும் பை தன்னிடம் ஒப்படைக்கப்படவில்லை என்றும் தெரிவித்திருக்கிறார்.
எனவே கொலையை தற்கொலையாக காவல் துறையினர் மாற்றி இருக்கின்றனரோ என்ற சந்தேகம் இப்போது அப்பகுதி மக்கள் மனதில் எழுந்துள்ளது. ரேஷன் பொருள்களை கடத்துபவர்கள் தண்டிக்கப்பட வேண்டும் என்ற அக்கறை முதல்வர் கருணாநிதிக்கு இருந்திருந்தால், கடத்தலில் ஈடுபட்டவர்களை கைது செய்ய உத்தரவிட்டிருக்க வேண்டும்.

அதிகாரியின் உடலை வாங்க மறுத்து போராட்டத்தில்

தூத்துக்குடியில் சிவில் சப்ளை அதிகாரியின் உடலை வாங்க மறுத்து அவரது குடும்பத்தினர் போராட்டத்தில் ஈடுபட்டுள்ளனர்.
தூத்துக்குடி அண்ணாநகரை சேர்ந்ததவர் முருகன் (48). சிவில் சப்ளை குடோனில் உதவி தரக்கட்டுப்பாட்டு அதிகாரியாக பணிபுரிந்து வந்தார். இவர் கடந்த 7ம்தேதி பணியில் இருந்தபோது விஷம் குடித்ததாக தூத்துக்குடி அரசு மருத்துவமனையில் சேர்க்கப்பட்டு 11ம் தேதி இறந்தார்.
அவரது சாவில் மர்மம் இருப்பதாகவும், அவரது சக அதிகாரிகள் மற்றும் ஊழியர்கள் வலுக்கட்டாயமாக விஷம் கொடுத்துள்ளனர். இதனால் அவர் இறந்துள்ளார். அவரது மரணம் குறித்து கொலை வழக்கு பதிவு செய்து 4 பேரை கைது செய்ய வேண்டும் என வலியுறுத்தி கடந்த 5 நாட்களாக முருகனின் மனைவி செல்வி மற்றும் உறவினர்கள் போராட்டத்தில் ஈடுபட்டு வருகின்றனர்.
இந்நிலையில் அவரது உடலில் பலவேறு இடங்களில் காயங்கள் இருப்பதாகவும், இதனால் அவர் கட்டாயப்படுத்தி விஷம் கொடுக்கப்பட்டிருக்கலாம் எனவும், இது தொடர்பாக உரிய விசாரணை நடத்த வேண்டும் எனவும் வலியுறுத்தி 11ம் தேதி முதல் போராடி வருகின்றனர். அவர்கள் கடந்த 13ம்தேதி முதல் தொடர்ந்து கலெக்டர் அலுவலக வளாகத்திலேயே தங்கி போராட்டத்தில் ஈடுபட்டுள்ளனர்.
இன்று அதிகாலை 5 மணியளவில் முருகனின் மனைவி செல்வி திடீரென மயங்கி விழுந்தார். உடனடியாக 108 ஆம்புலன்ஸ் வரவழைக்கப்பட்டு அவருக்கு முதலுதவி சிகிச்சையளிக்கப்பட்டது. ஆனால் மருத்துவமனைக்கு வர மறுத்து விட்டார். தொடர்ந்து நான்கு முறை மயக்கமடைந்தார்.
6 வது நாளாக போராட்டத்தில் ஈடுபட்டுள்ள முருகனின் குடும்பத்தினருக்கு ஆதரவாக அ.தி.மு.க., பா.ஜ., இந்திய கம்யூனிஸ்ட், மார்க்சிஸ்ட் கம்யுனிஸ்ட், சிபிஐ (எம்.எல்), புதிய தமிழகம், பகுஜன் சமாஜ், ஆதி தமிழர் பேரவை, நாம் தமிழர் கட்சி, பாட்டாளி மக்கள் கட்சி, விடுதலை சிறுத்தைகள், பெரியார் திராவிடர் கழகம், மள்ளர் இலக்கிய கழகம், புரட்சி பாரதம், தமிழக முன்னேற்ற கழகம் ஆகிய கட்சிகளும், மனித உரிமை பாதுகாப்பு மையம், அன்னை தெரசா நல அமைப்பு, மக்கள் உரிமை குழு, மக்கள் கண்காணிப்பகம், ஓசை, மக்கள் உரிமைக் குழு, வீராங்கனை, பெண்கள் இணைப்புக் குழு, நகர மத்திய வியாபாரிகள் சங்கம் உள்ளிட்ட அமைப்புகளும், தேவேந்திர குல வேளாளர் அமைப்புகளும், தலித் இயக்கங்களும் இன்று தூத்துக்குடியில் நடத்திய ஆலோசனை கூட்டத்தினை தொடர்ந்து மாவட்ட காவல் துறை கண்காணிப்பாளர் கபில்குமார் சரத்காரை சந்தித்து பேசினார்கள். நாளை காலை ராஜாஜி பூங்கா முன்பிருந்து மாவட்ட ஆட்சியர் அலுவலகம் வரை ஊர்வலம் சென்று மாவட்ட ஆட்சியரை சந்தித்து பேசுவது என முடிவு செய்யப்பட்டது.
இதனால் இவர்களின் போராட்டம் தீவிரமடைந்துள்ளது. ஆனால் வருவாய் துறையினர் மற்றும் காவல்துறையினர் அவ்வப்போது வந்து பேச்சுவார்த்தை நடத்துவதோடு சென்று விடுகின்றனர்.
கடந்த 11 ம்தேதி முதல் முருகனின் உடல் தூத்துக்குடி மருத்துவ கல்லூரியிலேயே வைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. இச்சமபவத்தில் விசாரணை அதிகாரியாக நியமிக்கப்பட்டுள்ள மணியாச்சி டி.எஸ்.பி. பா. நடராஜன் ஆறாவது நாளான இன்று காவல்துறை சார்பான விசாரணையினைத் துவக்கினார். முருகனின் மனைவி செல்வியிடம் வாக்குமூலம் பெற்றார்.
இதுகுறித்து செல்வி மற்றும் அவரது உறவினர்கள் கூறும்போது, ''பிரேத பரிசோதனை அறிக்கையில் முருகனின் உடலில் பத்துக்கும் மேற்பட்ட காயங்கள் உள்ளன என்றும், கழுத்து பகுதியில் காயம் இருப்பதாகவும் கூறப்பட்டுள்ளது. மேலும் அவரது மூளைப் பகுதியில் வீக்கம் இருப்பதாகவும், மார்பு எலும்பு உடைந்திருப்பதாகவும் தெரிவிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. ஆனால் போலீசாரும், அதிகாரிகளும் இதனை மறைக்கின்றனர். எனவே முறையாக விசாரணை செய்து உரிய நடவடிக்கை எடுக்கும் வரை போராட்டத்தை தொடர்வோம்'' என்றனர்.

Wife on fast to nab hubby killers

The wife of a civil supplies quality control officer alleged to have been poisoned to death, sat on an indefinite fast along with relatives and friends in heavy downpour on Monday, demanding the immediate arrest of those responsible for his death.
Murugan’s wife Selvi alleged that her husband, the quality control officer of the civil supplies godown at Meelavittan, Thoothukudi, whose death was registered by the police as suicide on Sept. 7, was poisoned by his colleagues.
Refusing to receive the body after post-mortem, she alleged that Murugan was forced to consume poison by four of his colleagues Isaack, Ramesh, Ayyapillai and godown manager Chidambaram because he lodged a complaint with the Thoothukudi SIPCOT police against them for malpractice.
“When I saw his body at the Thoothukudi medical college hospital, there were injuries on his neck and right shoulder and his tongue was also injured: he probably bit it while being beaten up,” Ms Selvi told Deccan Chronicle.
She said her husband told her that the four had been torturing him at work since he made the police complaint.
Ms Selvi, who petitioned Thoothukudi collector G.Prakash Monday, however, turned down his offer for a job in the civil supplies department and launched her fast in front of the collectorate. Human rights and dalit organisations have assured support to Ms Selvi, who is a dalit.
The officials refused comment, saying it was a suicide as per the post-mortem report. The collector, however, added that a detailed enquiry would be conducted by higher officials from Chennai.

Tuticorin: M. Murugan (48), an Assistant Quality Control Officer of Civil Supplies Godown under the SIPCOT police limits here, died on Saturday.
According to police, he took poison on September 7 at the workplace and he was taken to the Government Hospital here. He was a resident of Anna Nagar.
His family members and relatives objected to the alleged long time taken for conducting the post-mortem at the GH on Saturday.
Selvi, wife of the deceased, alleged that his husband might have been murdered by some in the department for “exposing irregularities.”
She also alleged injuries on some parts of the body.
A large number of residents and relatives of the deceased thronged the hospital. Demanding a proper inquiry into the death, they refused to take the body.
A team of police personnel, led by Sonal Chandra, Assistant Superintendent of Police, and Jayakumar, DSP, pacified them.

Madurai: The wife of a quality control officer in the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation, who died allegedly due to consumption of poison, is on a protest for three days in Thoothukudi, claiming that he had been force-fed poison and demanding that the culprits be arrested.
Selvi, 37, wife of M Murugan, 48, suspects that her husband might have been forced to swallow poison by those involved in alleged misappropriation of goods, as he had given a complaint against the fraud to the police on August 17.
Murugan was deputy inspector of quality control at a civil supplies godown in Thoothukudi. He had complained both to his superior and the police regarding the conduct of some civil supplies employees. On the morning of September 7, his family was informed that Murugan had consumed poison in office and that he was unconscious. He was rushed to the government hospital, where he died on September 11. Police sources said the postmortem had confirmed that it was a case of suicide.
Selvi and her relatives complained to the police that they suspected foulplay in his death and that he might have been attacked by some persons on the instigation of higher officials of the department and later forced to consume poison. They refused to accept the body until the case was registered under section 302 of IPC. At present, a case of suspicious death has been registered under section 174 of IPC.
The relatives, who staged a protest throughout the night of September 11 in front of the Thoothukudi medical college, where Murugan’s body has been kept after post mortem examination, continued the protest throughout Sunday and on Monday morning staged a protest in front of the collector’s office in Thoothukudi. CPI leader R Nallakannu met Selvi on Monday.
Thoothukudi collector G Prakash held talks with Selvi, who continued her protest in heavy rain, said steps would be taken to get her a government job.
